Am I a strong candidate for LGS?

LGS applicants can study ANY major at Adelphi, and often excel in their leadership, civic engagement, global awareness, and academics. They have diverse interests, but all want to take part in shaping a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world.

Less than 5% of Adelphi’s freshmen class are named LGS students, and incoming freshmen in our program often enter with an average 3.75 GPA* in high school.

However, our LGS Admissions Committee always evaluates academic performance alongside a student’s overall qualities and strengths, LGS personal statement, university application essay, letters of recommendation, school achievements, and other indicators of community and global involvement.

  • Although not required, most LGS students complete some college-level coursework, Advanced Placement exams, Honors classes, or an International Baccalaureate curriculum in high school.
  • Many also have been involved in Model UN, Red Cross Club, Global Kids, Key Club, Interact Club, gifted and talented education (GATE) programs, foreign language honor societies, cultural clubs, traveling or studying abroad, or student government, among various other community and global activities.
